We transformed this bijoux-sized, south facing garden in Hampstead into a space to entertain family and friends by creating three distinct areas: an area for dining, an area for lounging and a little nook at the back to cook and store garden equipment.
The wide Iroko steps leading into the garden function as an area to sit and enjoy the sun. In the first segment of the garden, Iron decking was used to create the perfect platform for dining with friends. Meanwhile, the organic-shaped dining table was chosen to soften the lines of the garden and a retractable parasol was installed to create shade from the heat of the sun.
A bespoke L-shaped bench, also made from oak sleepers, was placed under the shade of the olive tree to provide an extra seating area.
The horizontal fencing, also made from Iroko, gently guides the eye towards the chill-out area, where a hanging chair awaits, suspended from a bespoke structure soon to be covered in scented jasmine.
Meanwhile the vertical fencing was painted in dark mahogany to create a feeling of cosiness, enhanced at night by the portable garden lighting, which emits a variety of moods, from bright light to candle light.
