A little taste of Ikigai in London - Kentish Town

For this project in a Victorian house in Kentish Town we were asked to completely remodel and redesign a maisonette, as well as to build a loft. For the Japan-loving family with 3 children, we focussed on making the space as Zen as possible, whilst adhering to the limitations of a Victorian build. Working with sweet chestnut wood, blue and green hues, as well as fabrics and wallpaper, we brought nature into the space. The bespoke bookcase made from oak add a further touch of Japan, while the Tadelakt-inspired bathroom, made from microcement, creates a hand-crafted, seamless and serene aesthetic. Meanwhile the encaustic cement tiles made by hand and resin flooring in the children’s bathrooms add a playful, spirited touch.
